Why Introduce Another Level of Consulting Into Self-Funded Benefit Plans?

There is a substantial variance in the quality of health care in the United States, which can be attributed to how a health plan is managed from a medical perspective. Studies have proven that active management of the health plan by clinicians maximizes the value of the health care dollar.

In the most recent study by the National Council of Quality Assurance, Self-funded programs receive the lowest scores related to the quality of health care received by members. These programs pay the highest price tag for the health care dispensed yet receive the lowest quality of care.


Illumination Medical’s goal is to find areas within a health plan where quality of care is low. We then proactively address these areas of inadequate care by facilitating a coordination and collaboration of existing health plan resources. Our interventional team of nurses and pharmacists also work with the individual member and their physicians.
